North North!! My ode to Project Pat

I'll probably catch some flack for this one, but who cares. The homie Project Pat used to be one of my favorite rappers. Most people remember him for "chickenhead" and "good googily moogily", but true down south rap fans know how nice this dude was on the mic. He held it down for Memphis and the 3-6 Mafia. He made some of the best blunt-smokin, playa-made anthems of all time. I know I left songs off (and this list doesnt even have all the 3-6 songs that he spit on and more than likely killed) but here goes my playlist of some of Pat's greatest hits. Shout out to Mal, Steve, Ed, and all my other homies who will definately appreciate this.

- J. Todd

P.S. My apologies for some of the songs being only 30 second clips, something changes their format when it's embedded from Imeem to the blog. If you want to hear all the songs at their full length, click HERE

I remember last halloween I went to see a Lupe Fiasco show (HOB chicago) and Project Pat opened for him. It was amazing, but no one knew any of his music (SMH)...I can distinctively remember rapping along to ‘If you ain’t from my hood’ and people looking at me like I was crazy for knowing the words (lol). ‘I know this sucka from the suburbs/Cool with this other motherfucker on the outskirts/Tried to get Project Pat caught up in this shizurb/Since you niggaz hate then your plan didn't wizork/On that ATL tattle tale to my bizurbs…’ Good times…keep it pimpin pimpin!

Yup I got all the Project Pat albums retail, store bought except for Murderers and Robbers cause its weak (but I might get it for the collection), and the new cd cause I rather pretend he never made it.

Peace

Quality post John. My man project gets minimal love when he was/is a major part of southern hip hop. Plus I love hearing "IF YOU AIN'T FROM MY HOOD, YOU CAN GET FROM ROUND HERE!"

Project Pat-ah, flat like a pancake-ah, yo I love his flow. He's just a different type of rapper, which in today's hip-hop is greatly appreciated.
